Vaishali Travel Guide

Updated November 2026 · Patna Tour travel desk

Vaishali was the capital of the Licchavi republic – often called the world’s first republic – a city the Buddha visited many times and the birthplace of Lord Mahavira. Only about 60 km from Patna across the Ganga, it makes an easy half-day or day trip, often combined with the giant Kesariya Stupa.
